Episode 14: AirSynth launch day!

Logo

AirSynth v1.0 is live in the App Store.

It’s been a whirlwind few days, and I’ve had some fantastic press coverage to launch the app.

In this episode I talk through a little of that, receiving negative reviews in the App Store, and the positive feedback and constructive criticisms that will help me make it even better.

Thanks to everyone who has purchased, reviewed, retweeted and supported my efforts so far!

Episode 13: Review: Reject: Resubmit

Logo

AirSynth was submitted for approval to the App Store, but hit a small hurdle; rejection!

The review process is often a bumpy one, but thankfully this was short lived. With some clear communication, and resubmission, the show is back on the road. AirSynth 1.0 is nearly ready to ship.

Episode 12: AirSynth Golden Master

Logo

AirSynth is now at it’s golden master stage ahead of a 1.0 release!

I’ve been running a public beta on TestFlight, available to anyone who wants to check it out, and getting those crucial last minute fixes into the app.

This now means I need to work on those other tasks that accompany an app release, such as landing pages, reaching out to potential customers and all.

I’m running a public TestFlight beta (https://t.co/eIqRCR1CTW ), and you’re welcome to take a look.

Episode 11: Feedback!

Logo

My first build of AirSynth has been through the TestFlight approval process. I’ve now had the first feedback on the app from testers recruited from Twitter.

It’s been a worthwhile process to have user feedback for the app, and that feedback has called out some show stopping bugs. These are pieces of friction that I need to fix ahead of releasing the app to the App Store.

Full steam ahead!

Episode 10: Setting up for TestFlight

Logo

I’m just about to send the first build out for TestFlight testing, and I cannot get into my developer account!

During development, Apple changed their process for developer authentication to require two factor authentication (2FA). HoweverI need to wait for a couple of days to regain access to my developer account to enable 2FA.

As I’ve recruited a small team of beta-testers from Twitter, and this means I cannot send builds out, this is somewhat frustrating. Chalk it up as a lesson learnt!

Episode 9: On to the next 90%

Logo

A couple of weeks on since the last episode, and I’ve spent a bit of time whilst on vacation leave on my theremin project “AirSynth”.

With a deep breath, the app is on the last major push of development.

I’m nearly ready for beta-testers, but the app needs to be pretty close to release before I’m happy to put it through TestFlight.

Note: this episode was originally recorded mid-February. I’ve started this microcast with a backlog of episodes, as we begin to catch up to ‘real time’ with these microcast episodes.

Episode 8: Architecture and coordinators

Logo

A few more days into the development of AirSynth. It’s all about the architecture, code generation and setting up coordinator objects within the app.

I’m using MVP, coordinators, and a code generation tool called Generamba. This is an approach that gives me a flexible pattern for development, testability, and helps keep the locality of code sensible within the app.

Generamba can be found at: https://github.com/rambler-ios/Generamba

Episode 7: Development starts!

Logo

With design completed, tasks planned out, I’m in a position to start development on my first small app project. This is my theremin app, codenamed “AirSynth”, that will enable people to play music just by waving their hands above the device.

I’m laying down the groundwork of the app, app architecture, building for dynamic text. Starting as I mean to go on.

Episode 6: Assessing time

A couple of weeks into my part-time development regime of 2019, and I’m beginning to get a grip of how much (little!) free time I really have. Knowing this should help inform how I plan development tasks going forwards out of my design phase.
